Earlier Used Bike Collections were a great success!

Bike Walk Wilmette is excited to announce our annual Used Bike Collection initiative to support Working Bikes. We are seeking donations of adult bikes, which should be in a state suitable for repair, alongside gently used children’s bikes.

Bring them to the main Gillson Beach Parking Lot on Saturday May 11th between 9 and 11am.
At the same time you can buy native plants for your garden from our partner Go Green Wilmette.

Bike Walk Wilmette advocates for better biking, walking, and active transportation for all ages and abilities in Wilmette. We collaborate with the Village, Park District, and schools on issues relating to active transportation and support efforts to make biking and walking in Wilmette better, safer, and more fun. Join our community bike rides on the last Thursday of the month from May through October.

Working Bikes, recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been instrumental in distributing over 100,000 bicycles to communities both locally and globally since its inception in 1999. In Chicago, they dedicate their efforts to providing bikes to low-income communities, while internationally, they send repaired bicycles to organizations in Africa and Central America. These bikes are more than just a mode of transport; they are vital tools for individuals, facilitating access to work and educational opportunities.
